In 1964 the first Rummage Sale raised money for Vail Country Day
School's first teacher. Later, the sale helped pay off debt for the
first public school in Vail and for developing the Vail Valley Medical
Center. Today, the Auction and Rummage Sale benefit the Eagle Valley
Community Fund, which distributes funds to more than 60 non-profit
organizations, school groups and important causes all over Eagle
County.
In 2008 the Rummage Sale raised over $180,000. Two of top
beneficiaries included the Eagle County Humane Society and Vail
Mountain Rescue.
Some of the other 67 groups receiving funding include:
Vail Mountain Rescue
Eagle Valley Humane Society
Mountain Hospice
Minturn and Eagle Seniors
Ski and Snowboard Club Vail
Eagle River Alliance for Sustainability
Vail Valley Charitable Fund
